Collagen Cranberry Applesauce

Collagen Cranberry Applesauce with Traditional Tonic Nourishing Collagen

The winter season always makes me crave two things: cranberries and applesauce. I love how tart and bright cranberries are and there really isn’t anything more delicious than home-made applesauce. So, naturally, I’ve decided to combine these two fall/winter powerhouses into one delicious mixture. This cranberry apple sauce is tart, deliciously spiced, and sweet. And, of course, we add Traditional Tonic Nourishing Collagen to this dish to make it the perfect protein-packed snack. This apple sauce makes a wonderful breakfast, snack, or even a dessert if you warm it up and top it with a little granola and ice cream (seriously, it tastes like pie. Yum). Take advantage of the seasonal availability of fresh cranberries and make this delicious collagen cranberry applesauce as often as you can!

Recipe

Makes: 6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. fresh cranberries
  • 2 apples (your favorite variety), peeled and diced
  • 1.5 cups apple cider
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 3 scoops Traditional Tonic Nourishing Collagen
  • 1/8 tsp. salt

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients
  2. Bring mixture to a simmer and then reduce heat and simmer 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid sticking or burning
  3. Once most of the berries have burst and the apples are falling apart, remove from heat
  4. If you like your sauce smoother, blend the mixture slightly
  5. Cool before serving
